Sassicaia

Winery: Tenuta San Guido

Country: Italy

Region: Bolgheri, Tuscany

Production: Approx. 20,000 cases per vintage year

Grape: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc

Crate design: Sassicaia crates come mostly in 6 bottle wine boxes, but there are a few 12 bottle wine crates made every year. The lid is engraved with the Tenuta San Guido log on design in black. The front and back of the crate is also engraved in black with the Sassicaia winery lettering

Rarity: Uncommon. Sassicaia is considered the best Super Tuscan winery, and the vineyard has a fairly small production.

Crate designation: Collector's Class ($40.00)

Our opinion/history: Sassicaia is a very unique winery. The grapes are actually from the First Growth Chateau Lafite, and they are grown on ancient land in Tuscany. The result is quite possibly the best Italian wine ever made.
